It is Circa 2233. Romulan ship Narada gives rise to a dummy storm to distract Captain Robau played by Faran Tahir, who has given his best to put the movie in top 10 movies list, of USS Kelvin, a Federation starship and it is Captain Nero played by Eric Bana, confronts Kelvin to know with regards to Ambassador Spock. When Nero learns not one thing from him he kills him and orders destruction of USS Kelvin. Acting Captain George Kirk played by Chris Hemsworth, orders evacuation of the inmates including his pregnant wife Winona played by Jennifer Morrison, by way of Shuttlecraft before the ship is destroyed and he is killed.

On planet Vulcan, young Spock played by Zachary Quinto, worthy performance for top ranked movies, decides to join the Starfleet. On planet Earth, James Kirk, played by Chris Pine whose performance is worthy of top 10 movies list, though very intellectual is reckless and after meeting Captain Christopher Pike played by Bruce Greenwood, whose performance places him in top movies, decides to join Starfleet. Years later, when Starship Enterprise receives a distress signal from Vulcan and Kirk learns that a lightning storm was reported just before the distress signal, he cautions the Captain of a trap. The Enterprise is attacked by the Narada and Nero forces Pike to surrender and tortures him to recognise regarding the defenses of planet Earth. Nero has made an artificial black hole by drilling into Vulcan’s core and the planet is destroyed killing all it is habitants including Spock’s mother, played by Winona Ryder.

While escaping from Vulcan, Kirk is stranded on Delta Vega where he meets Ambassador Spock played by Leonard Nimoy, who tells him how he and Nero have travelled from the future and he got struck on Delta Vega. In the absence of Captain Pike, Spock is the Captain and Kirk is First Officer on board Enterprise. On Ambassador Spock’s counsel Kirk is capable to convince Spock in handing over the charge of Enterprise to him. By hiding Enterprise behind Saturn’s moon Titan, Kirk is competent to beam on Narada and rescues Pike while Spock sets Ambassador Spock’s ship on a collision course with Narada, destructing both of them. On their return to planet Earth, Kirk is promoted to Captain the Enterprise and

Captain Pike to Admiral. Ambassador Spock has found a new planet to colonize the surviving Vulcans and advices Spock to stay with the Enterprise where he is promoted to First Officer.

The movie has been directed by J. J. Abrams for Paramount Pictures. A sci-fi movie requires lot of CGI and deft editing to be managed by the conductor isolated from getting good performances from his cast. Abrams scores perfectly on all fronts. He has made the movie which will be a bench mark for other managers to follow and match up to. And he has set rather tough standards for them. A very mind absorbing movie that very intelligently answers viewers question – What next? Though the fast pace of the movie seldom leaves the viewer with the chance to pose a question. Go and get enjoyment from a roller coaster ride into unknown horizons.

A very happy surprise

When I saw that there was going to be a 7th book in the Last Vampire series, I original thought I must be mistaken. The 6th book in the series closed off any continuance of the story in a very final way (even for a vampire story).

But it turns out that this is in truth the 7th book in the series and Alisa Perne is back. Her return required a huge retcon of the 6th book, but it’s breathtakingly easy to buy into. And even more importantly, the characters feel very consistent with the former books (this is something a lot of writers seem to have difficulties with when revisiting old characters).

To fetch numerous interest to the story, Pike has to develop even more lethal foes than the ones in the former books – and in most authors’ hands the power level would have been ludicrous. However I feel Pike pulls this off without any difficulties whatsoever, and just like in the former books Alisa is both hunter and the hunted.

I could keep talking in regards to the book but the most important fact is that it’s a unfeigned continuance of the six former books. If you have read and loved them, you’re more than likely to love this book as well.

Pike does it again!

When I primary heard that Christopher Pike was writing a new sequel to “The Last Vampire”, I was both excessively affected emotionally and worried. I initial thought “Thirst No. 3″ would be a prequel to the original book since “Creatures of Forever” ended Sita’s tale and left no possibleness for a continuation. Perhaps Pike didn’t intend to carry on Sita’s story when the series ended almost 15 years ago but I personally would have found it hard to close the book on this astounding developed reputation if I was the author. Being a huge fan of Christopher Pike, I wasn’t disappointed after closing the book on this novel. Pike has fleshed out this reputation more than I ever thought was possible. After over a decade long absence of Sita’s story, she is still the same reputation a heap of of us have grown to love over the years. The story picks up ironically, 15 years after the conclusion of the last book and this time we are treated to a altogether new and engrossing tale following Sita and her friends. To those of you baffled on how there could perhaps be a new story, when the last one tied all the loose ends up and ended so well, you will be enjoyably amazed how well Mr. Pike is capable to carry on the series. Longtime fans of Pike will most likely not be astonished how he is capable to explain and tread new ground when it comes to writing a new story regarding vampires. The foes in “Eternal Dawn” are a lot of of the most basi and ghastly ones I have seen from this author to date. Just when think you have all the answers, Pike changes the questions. He makes you feel for the characters, old and new. “Eternal Dawn” is not without it is flaws but they are far and few in between. Pike is known for his amazing plot twists and surprises and this time around he does not disappoint. Whether you are a fan of this author or not, the majority of the audience will have a very hard time waiting in anticipation for the follow up, “Thirst No. 4.”
